Foodie Log 4, date July 4, 2010

Happy Independence Day!

Great weather this weekend - not too hot with sunny, blue skies - although the temperature's starting to pick-up now.

Went over to a catered BBQ (by Dixie Bones) at a friend's condo. For meats, they had chopped pork and chicken and beef ribs - along with a variety of sauces to compliment each type of protein. For the sides, they had baked beans (a little too sweet), cole slaw (definitely mayo-y), and mac and cheese (clumps of something or other throughout). Most importantly, they had great sweet tea to wash everything down ... mmmmm sugary goodness ...

it's hard to judge a restaurant by their catered food (or take out), so the jury's still out on Dixie Bones. the catered food itself was fine for what it was, but I generally prefer my BBQ meat prepared with sauce instead of added afterwards - just me though. BBQ probably travels better separated from its saucier half anyhow.
